The European Union is transitioning to B2B e-invoicing, with several countries mandating electronic B2B invoicing during 2025 – 2026. The ViDA proposal has also been approved by EU finance ministers. In the short term, ViDA allows EU countries to implement mandatory e-invoicing without prior EU consent. Longer term, around 2030, ViDA will enforce mandatory cross-border e-invoicing within the EU.
Indicative Key Dates for Mandatory B2B E-Invoicing in Europe:
Germany: January 2025 (mandatory receipt of e-invoices)
Estonia: July 2025 (if requested by buyer)
Belgium: January 2026
Latvia: January 2026
Poland: February 2026
France: September 2026
Spain: 2026
Germany: January 2027 (mandatory sending of e-invoices)
